Alberta (Van Rossum) Abrial, 99, formerly of Woods Point Road, widow of William (Bill), passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville.
Alberta was born in Patterson, New Jersey, on August 19, 1922, a daughter of Albertus M. and Cornelia Esters Van Rossum.
She grew up in Hawthorne, New Jersey, graduating from Hawthorne High School. During WWII, she was employed at Wright Aeronautical Engine Co., of Patterson. After WWII she spent a summer in Otter Lake and was employed at Charbonneau's Restaurant where she met Bill.
On March 4, 1949, Alberta was united in marriage with Bill in Passaic, New Jersey.
The couple lived in Sherrill for thirty years spending every weekend in Otter Lake before moving there in 1978. For ten years she was employed by Oneida Limited in Sherrill. She was then employment by the New York State Police as a transcriber at Troop D Headquarters, Oneida. She retired in 1978.
Alberta was a member of St. Mary of the Snows Church in Otter Lake and the Otter Lake Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. In her later years she greatly enjoyed needle point and possessed a lifelong love of caring for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family.
Alberta is survived by two sons, three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great great grandson Easton.
She was predeceased by a brother, Franz and two sisters Johanna Schaaf and Winanda Kirkman.
