Barry Edward Blackmon, 72, husband of Vicky Atkinson Blackmon, passed away on Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.
Born on June 22, 1949, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Chester F. "C.F." and Sylvia LeFevre Blackmon. He was a graduate of Edmunds High School and received a degree in industrial engineering from Sumter Area Technical College. He was employed by DuPont for 33 years and retired as a supervisor for the City of Sumter Park Rangers. He was a member of Bible Fellowship Church, where he led the music for 30 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years; two children, Brett Blackmon of Sumter and Tiffany Adams (Jeff) of St. Louis, Missouri; two brothers, David Blackmon and Jerry Blackmon (Carolyn), both of Sumter; and a sister, Ann Windham (Don) of Sumter.
He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Rosalind Blackmon.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Bible Fellowship Church with the Rev. Dr. David Richardson and the Rev. Paul Atkinson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. on Saturday in the fellowship hall at Bible Fellowship Church.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
