Professional Gymnast, Olympic Gold Medalist, Olympic Silver Medalist. He was born one of four children as Karl Gösta Åsbrink in Lovö Parish of Stockholm, Sweden, to Hulda Kristina Johansdotter Öhman Åsbrink (1845-1923), on November 18, 1881. He was a professional gymnast who was a member of the club Stockholms GF (or Stockholms Gymnastikförening), of Taby, Sweden, and the club I10 IF (or Infanteri 10 Idrottsförening-Sports club of the 10th Infantry regiment of the Swedish Army), of Malmköping, Sweden. He would eventually go onto represent his home country of Sweden at the 1908 Summer Olympics that were held in London, England. Together with his team members including Carl Bertilsson, Hjalmar Cedercrona, Andreas Cervin, Rudolf Degermark, Carl Folcker, Sven Forssman, Erik Granfelt, Carl Hårleman, Nils Hellsten, Gunnar Höjer, Arvid Holmberg, Carl Holmberg, Oswald Holmberg, Hugo Jahnke, Johan Jarlén, Gustaf Johnsson, Rolf Johnsson, Sven Landberg, Olle Lanner, Axel Ljung, Osvald Moberg, Carl Martin Norberg, Erik Norberg, Tor Norberg, Axel Norling, Daniel Norling, Gustaf Olson, Leonard Peterson, Sven Rosén, Gustaf Rosenquist, Axel Sjöblom, Birger Sörvik, Haakon Sörvik, Karl Johan Svensson, Nils von Kantzow, Karl Gustaf Vinqvist, and Nils Widforss, he was part of the Swedish men's gymnastics team which won an Olympic Gold Medal in the Team All-Around Competition Artistic Gymnastics Men's Event. His final team standing score result was ranking 1 with 438 points. He also would eventually go onto represent his home country of Sweden four years later at the 1912 Summer Olympics that were held in Stockholm, Sweden. He participated in the first contested Modern Pentathlon in the Individual Men's Events which consisted of rapid-fire pistol shooting, épée fencing, a 300 metre swimming race, a cross-country steeplechase equestrian event, and a 4,000 metre cross-country run. His final ranking was 2 with 38 points and for this, he was awarded an individual Olympic Silver Medal. He was also a Lieutenant in the Swedish Army and was later promoted to the rank of Major. He continued to represent club Stockholms GF (or Stockholms Gymnastikförening), of Taby, Sweden, and club I10 IF (or Infanteri 10 Idrottsförening-Sports club of the 10th Infantry regiment of the Swedish Army), of Malmköping, Sweden, and be active in sports events and in the military until his death. He was married to Evy Martin Husberg Åsbrink (1906-1975). He passed away in his native Stockholm, Sweden, on April 19, 1966, at the age of 84, and he was buried in Skogskyrkogården in Enskede, Stockholm, Sweden, where several other famous Swedish personalities are also laid to rest.
