Lelen Marjean Warnick Remy of South Jordan, Utah passed away on November 19, 2021.

She was born May 15, 1930 in Coalville, Utah to Jesse Ralph and Lelen Ether Ault Warnick.

Lelen is urvived by: Marjean is survived by many members of her loving family, including her four daughters, Paula Perry and husband Brent Perry, Julie Coates and husband Robert Coates, Karen Remy, and Kathy Stephens and husband Miles Stephens. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.

Marjean was preceded in death by her parents Jesse Ralph and Lelen Ether Ault Warnick, first husband Paul Remy (married 1950-1988), her second husband Travis Hunt (married 1990-1992), and her infant son Paul Edward Remy, Jr.

Lelen was known to her family and friends as Marjean, was the leader of her beloved family for 60 years, anchoring them with her love, faith, hard work, creativity, tenacity, and sense of humor.

Marjean built a rich, adventurous life around things she loved. She again and again overcame tribulations, found joy in her family and community, and touched and shaped the lives of those around her.

Marjean brought her authentic self to everything she did. Her life spanned a time of remarkable change, and, above anything else, was defined by her deep love of family. She was born in a family of few means in the era of the Great Depression. She was the third of seven children born to Jesse Ralph and Lelen Ether Ault Warnick. She developed the strong work ethic she was known for at a young age. She left school in eighth grade to earn money to help support her family, turning over every penny to her parents until she left home to be married.

Marjean wove family, love, and service throughout all seasons of her life. She loved children and spent more than seven decades serving her church community. She first served as a Sunday School teacher when she was 16 years old. She served as a ward and stake young women's leader, the primary president, a temple worker at the Idaho Falls and Jordan River temples, and "Sister Friendly" in her long-time ward in South Jordan.

Marjean was creative and artistic. She taught herself to paint. She loved to make ceramics. She had her own kiln in the basement and fired everything from nativity sets to dolls to temple statues for hundreds of children at church. She was accomplished in quilting and crocheting. Many members of her extended family have Christmas stockings, quilts, and baby receiving blankets she made by hand. While living in Idaho, she ran two different businesses, Jumbo's Drive-In and Remy's Relics.

Marjean was also an adventurer. When she wrote about her life in 2006, she said, "I have had a good life; I have had lots of adventures. Lots of hard times along with the good, so I feel blessed." She jumped at the chance to try new things and never shied away from challenges. In her 60s, she got a job working in TSA security at the Salt Lake City airport, served as a foster parent, went parasailing, and traveled internationally.

Marjean was deeply generous. She loved to invite people to dinner and share what her family had—even if times were tight. When her daughters were young, she would bake extras of everything and send the girls around to share things with neighbors and church members.

In her final months, Marjean was able to see many members of her family. She will be sorely missed, especially as we head into the holiday season she loved and celebrated so well.

A service for the family and close friends will be held on Tuesday, 23 November at 10:30 am at Larkin Mortuary in Downtown Salt Lake. She will then be interred at Salt Lake City Cemetery.
