She was the daughter of Hilorius Theis and Elizabeth Emma Kibel, the third of four children. Her siblings were; John William "Will" Theis, Anna Catherine Theis, and George James Theis. All preceeded her in death.

Funeral services for Mrs. Charles B. Hartoon, 89, of Tecumseh, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Tecumseh Freewill Baptist Church with Roma Stewart, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Tecumseh Cemetery. Mrs. Hartoon died Friday in a Shawnee nursing home. She was born October 1, 1884 in De Witt, Arkansas.
Mrs. Hartoon came to Oklahoma in the run of 1891, locating east of Tecumseh. She had resided in Tecumseh since that time. Mrs. Hartoon attended the Northview schools, east of Tecumseh. She was a member of the WTCU and the Freewill Baptist Church. Her husband, Charles B. Hartoon, died May 30, 1953.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Gleckler, Barry, Illinois; two sons, Ralph Hartoon, Tecumseh; Clifford Hartoon, Fort Smith, Arkansas; a brother Gard Edwards, De Witt, Arkansas, six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Cooper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
