Thereasa is the daughter of Niels Schaugaard and Kistena Hansen Schaugaard. She sailed to the United states when she was 7 years old and her family then travled to Salt Lake City, Utah and were sent to Koosharem to make their home. She married Heber Anderson and had one son Danny. Heber suddenly died from drinking from a stream. Latter she married James William "Will" Manwill on December 10, 1889.

Thereasa and Will started their famly together and had Thereasa Armitha, James Ray and Leo. Tragedy struck this family during the summer of 1896 when Danny, Armitha, Ray and Leo all died with the Black Diphtheria within 11 days. Her next child, Flossy Kustina, was born 45 days after these children died. Eight more children followed, Jenny Mae, Edward Horatio, Milo, who only lived 10 months, Willard LaMont, twin brothers, Burton C. and Bertam C., Orson Charles who was 4 years old when he died and Wells Roald.
