Judy Boyles Brooks Conley, passed away on May 30, 2011, in Santa Rosa, CA, surrounded by her family.

Beloved wife of the late Raymond E. Brooks; Judy is survived by four children, which she had when married to the late William E. Conley. She was a loving mother of Grace Purcell (William) of Bozeman, MT, Lydia Conley (Ron Seiler) of Chico, James Conley (Nanette) of Livingston, MT, and Carl Conley (Brenda) of Sebastopol; grandmother of Brooke Woody (James), Louis Tullius, Sheamus Conley, and Quinlan Conley; great- grandmother of Alexa Woody; dear sister of Carl Boyles (Dianna) of Houston, TX, and David Boyles (Jeannine) of Alvin, TX; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A native of Mexia, TX, age 88. She graduated from Baylor University in 1944 with a degree in English and a minor in Psychology. She put herself through college by working as a Secretary for the President of Baylor, Pat Neff (former Governor of TX). She was a lifelong member of the Baylor Alumni Assoc. She moved to Chico, CA in 1950 and began her lifetime career as a free lance court reporter. Judy served 3 terms on Chico's city council from 1956-1968, two of those terms as Vice Mayor. She was the first council woman in Chico history and was the President of the Chico Council of Churches. A member of Soroptimist International, organist and member of the First Baptist Church, State board of shorthand reporters as an appointee of Governor Pat Brown, League of Women Voters, a very active member in the Democratic Party, where she attended John F. Kennedy's Presidential Inauguration and took her two grandchildren, age 8, to Jimmy Carter's Presidential Inauguration, honorary member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She enjoyed calligraphy, origami, bee keeping, photography, music, and was a world traveler, having taken many Elderhostel trips around the world. Judy lived life to the fullest and was truly a renaissance woman.

Friends are invited to a attend a Celebration of Judy's life on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Springlake Village's Great Hall, 5555 Montgomery Dr., Santa Rosa.
