Nathan C. Williamson was the first born child of John Williamson Jr. and Winney(Camp)Williamson of Jackson Co. GA. His father's contested estate-(will)-in Jackson Co. provided much information on the family-and the loose papers of those legal efforts in the Jackson Co. Court Records-(manuscript 68)-in the Hargrett Library-(UGA)-Athens, GA were a goldmine! Nathan and his brother John Lesley Williamson had earned $300.00 on the 1830 cotton crop and his father provided that sum, and a horse & bridle -saying he would make up Lesley's share-when Nathan came to Butts Co. shortly before the death of his grandfather, Rev. Sodier John Williamson Sr., in Butts Co. in October 1831. Nathan inherited 600 acres and three slaves through the old man's will, being co-executor with his father, John Jr.-who came to Butts Co. in an ox cart and carried slaves and stock back to Jackson Co.
