John Williamson (110292653)
Suggested edit: John Jr. and Winney(Camp)Williamson are clearly buried in their family cemetery off of Brockton Loop Rd, near Curry Creek and middle fork Oconee River. Someone had placed a homemade aluminum plaque between matching brick burial 'mounds'-probably guessing as to the location of their graves, because of the apparent age of the mounds. However, the deposition of John W. Moon taken regarding the contested estate of his uncle, John Jr., appears to question this placement. In this 1850 document John W. Moon describes visiting the family cemetery with his uncle in 1838-noting burials and connections in the family. I believe it is more likely that John and Winney are buried beside the grave of their bachelor son, Micajah Williamson-(Micager on his tombstone)-in identically marked graves. These twin tombstones were likely placed by Micajah himself after Winney's death in 1873. Both stones are now completely obscure except for machined edgings, and one had been misplaced at the foot of the other, when these images were made by me in 1995.
It seems likely that the matching brick burial mounds are those as described as 'walling' in the J. W. Moon deposition, and are probably those of Sarah Moon, wife of Boler Moon, and of her bachelor brother William Willamson. The other brick burial mound is likely that of Margaret 'Peggy' Williamson who died in the home of William Williamson in 1828! [See the depositions of John W. Moon and Dr. Crawford W. Long, and a summary of the Williamson family in "Williamson Kin" on the Jackson Co. GA USGenWeb "Archives Project' site] Larry C. Knowles [49633755]
