MULLINS - Mrs. Angela "Angie" Collins Cantey, 60, widow of Thomas Lindy Cantey, of Mullins entered the Kingdom of Heaven on the afternoon of Monday, November 15, 2021, with her beloved family at her bedside after a sudden illness, at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center in Florence.
Angie, as she was known to everyone, was a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring grandmother, who enjoyed spoiling her little grandbabies every chance she got was born on March 11, 1961, in Mullins. She was a daughter of the late Everett Arthur Collins and the late Clara Floyd "Snookie" Collins of Mullins. She was a graduate of Mullins High School and graduated from Florence-Darlington Technical College with a degree in accounting. Following her academic journey, Angie joined the faculty in the Francis Marion University Biology Department where she spent the next thirty years working with her friends and colleagues until she retired after those many years. At home Angie enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren in her quite country home, and when not engaged with friends, she enjoyed monograming different articles of clothing and items in her spare time. She always took care of others before herself. Angie was a member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church, where she helped around the church when needed, and she was a member of the New Beginnings group there at Reedy Creek.
Surviving Angie are two daughters, Lindsey Brown (T.J.) of Marion and Kayleigh Green (Daniel) of Clarendon, NC; two stepdaughters, Angie Kowalke (Shalin) of Story City, IA and Amy Williams of Lexington; a sister, Debbie Collins of Mullins; 4 grandchildren; and 4 step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 18 at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary of Reedy Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. John Rogers officiating. Mrs. Cantey will then be laid to rest next to her husband in Reedy Creek Cemetery.
