Mount Vernon - Charleen (Abraham) Clark Schroeder, 83, of Mount Vernon, WA passed away peacefully on November 8, 2021, with her loved ones by her side. Charleen was born on August 18, 1938, in Long Beach, California to George and Jimmie Rose Abraham. Charleen was an only child and a 'Navy brat', traveling between WA, CA and NY during her early childhood. She attended grade school in Inglewood, CA & Oak Harbor, WA; she graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1956. She was a song leader her junior year. She attended Western Washington University (nursing program) and then Mount Vernon Beauty School. Charleen married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Clark on March 9, 1957, and moved to Fairbanks, AK where he was stationed in the Air Force. She worked as an office manager for the Fairbanks Credit Bureau. They returned to Mount Vernon in 1959. During their marriage they had 3 children (Ed Clark, Kay Clark Steiner & David Clark). Charleen worked at Skagit Bonded Collectors in 1970 before starting her 25 years as credit manager for Skagit Valley Medical Center, where she retired in 1996. Wayne and Charleen enjoyed years of camping, fishing, crabbing and boating with the family and good friends like The Grangers, until Wayne passed away in 1992. Charleen later married Dwayne Schroeder of Mount Vernon in October 2001. Due to health conditions she moved to Mountain Glen Assisted Living in 2020. Charleen loved to tell stories and share her memories with anyone who would listen! She loved skating when she was young and playing the piano. She enjoyed time with her kids, grandkids, and 9 great-grandkids. Her hobbies included camping, traveling (Alaska, Canada, Idaho, Oregon, California, Colorado, Hawaii & Mexico), knitting, crocheting and counted cross stitch; she enjoyed watching the Seahawks and Mariners, gardening, playing 'idiot' games on her kindle or coloring; she enjoyed reading and listening to music (one of her favorites was Goose Creek Symphony). She wrote a children's book about Whitey the Cow. Charleen received a letter of merit from the MVPD for identifying 2 teens wo were calling in bomb threats to the high school and they were subsequently caught. Charleen attended Christ the King Church in Burlington; she was baptized in 1959 in a Southern Baptist Church in Fairbanks, AK. She was a member of the Skagit Widowed Support Services. Charleen was preceded in Death by her husband, Wayne Clark, her parents George & Jimmie Abraham and daughter in law, Susan Clark. She is survived by her husband, Dwayne Schroeder of Mount Vernon; daughter Kay (Rick) Steiner of Burlington; sons Ed (Dawn) Clark of Arizona & David (Shelley) Clark of Mount Vernon; She is also survived by her grandchildren Katie (Rob) Zimmerman, Kyle (Sophie) Loy, Kelli (Kyle) Ackermann, Danica (Kody) Antsen, Stephanie Steiner and Justin Netto; great-grandchildren: Zoe, Madisyn & Aisley Zimmerman; Mila Loy; Piper & Charlie Ackermann; Blakely, Aurora & Adelaide Antsen. A graveside memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at 1:00pm at Hawthorne Memorial Park on College Way in Mount Vernon, WA. A time of reception will follow at the Skagit Golf and Country Club in Burlington, WA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Skagit Woodstock (funding Cancer Care at Island Hospital & Skagit Valley Hospitals) c/o 3706 Trumpeter Ct., Mt.
