During WWII, Jimmie and George became great friends with Larry and Dot Ackley. George and Larry served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Temptress; George as Chief Steward, Larry as Chief Radioman. Jimmie and George and daughter Charleen attended Larry and Dot's wedding in New York in June 1943, and the families stayed in touch over the years. After both George and Dot died in the early 1970s, Larry and Jimmie were married in 1976 in Redding, California. They moved to Sequim, Washington in 1980 and shared many years of camping, fishing, crabbing, Elks Club, and just enjoying companionship.
