Asa was the seventh of ten children born to Peter and Joanna Mosely Williamson. He was the first child born in Texas, the others having been born in Minnesota. In 1907 he married Lucy Betty Hunt. They eventually settled on a ranch south of Portales, New Mexico at a small place called Pep. They had four children: John "Jack" Stewart, Joanna Elizabeth, James Hunt, and Katie Lee Williamson. Asa, his wife Lucy, and all four of their children were cremated and their ashes were spread near the homestead at Pep, New Mexico.
