After her father died, Tiny's mother deserted the family and Tiny was raised by adoptive parents as were her siblings.When Tiny married Malachi Harper, she is described as wearing a blue and white checkered gingham dress that she had made for herself. It had a long, gathered skirt, long sleeves and a high collar. Tiny and Malachi raised a large family of children.Tiny died in April of 1949 after enjoying her lifelong habit of smoking her pipe. Both she and her husband are buried at the Little Creek Church in Gardi, Georgia. Obituary, The Jesup Sentinel, Jesup, Georgia, Thursday, April 7, 1949: Mrs. Tiny W. Harper, 86 of Jesup died at a Waycross hospital early Tuesday morning after a long illness. Funeral services were to be held Thursday afternoon from Little Creek Baptist Church at 3 o'clock where she had been a member since girlhood. Her pastor, Reverend Stetson Bennett, Reverend Majors, pastor of Central Baptist Church of Waycross and Reverend Sheppard, pastor of Hoboken Baptist Church officiated. Survivors include four daughters: Mrs. JD Westberry; Mrs. RC Millikin; Mrs. PC Harris, all of Waycross, Mrs GC Conger, Miami; eight sons: MJ of Gardi; SW and VE of Jesup; JJ of Lakeland, Fla; RR of Waycross,; Noland, Charleston SC; LL, Atlanta; GW of Savannah;two brothers: Lem Westberry; George H. Nichols (adopted by a Nichols family and the father of Anne Nichols, author of "Abie's Irish Rose) Chicago; forty-six grandchildre and 34 great-grandchildren.
