Thomas Wright Shumaker, SFC, (RET) passed away Friday November 5, 2021 at his daughter's residence in Crystal Springs, Ms. He was 74. Thomas was born January 23, 1947 to the late A.G. and Mae Handforth Shumaker.

He was an active and faithful member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Crystal Springs.
He was active in his community with Hopewell Volunteer Fire Department and the MS Cattlemen's Association. He was secretary for the Woodmen of the World, active member of the NRA, and a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Camp #712 Crystal Springs Southern Rights. He was a retired Sergeant First Class of The Army National Guard and retired Maintenance supervisor for LC Industries.

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, A.G. and Mae Handforth Shumaker, his wife, Nancy Thornton Shumaker, and his daughter, Renee Shumaker.

He is survived by his daughter Gina (Reggie) Jones, step son Jody (Janet) Burns and step daughter Susie (Johnny) Girault; sisters, Edith Powell, Grace Prine, Marie LaBlanc and Rhonda (Charles) James; grandchildren, Ashliegh (Jimmy) Till, Cole (Catherine) Gandenberger, Thomas Scott Jones, Shauna Gandenberger, John Cameron Jones, Robert Ellis Burns and Elliot Burns.

Funeral Services will be held at Hopewell Baptist Church in Crystal Springs. The visitation for the public begins at 6 pm until 8 pm Tuesday, November 9, 2021. The funeral service will begin at 11 am Wednesday, November 10, 2021 with Rev. Jimmy Bryant officiating; interment will immediately follow at Harmony Cemetery.

Memorials in Mr. Thomas W. Shumaker's memory may be made to The Hopewell Volunteer Fire Department.

Pallbearers will be: Scott Jones, Cameron Jones, Jesse James, Heath James, Richard Prine and Adam Prine.
Honorary pallbearers: Cole Gandenberger, Thomas Davis, Billy Templeton and Lee Powell.
