Obituary

David K. Munro, born 10/10/27, in Paris, France, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2019.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Joanne, daughter Cathleen (Ed) Corredor, son Andrew Munro, step-sons Mark (Cindy) Rhodes, Scott Rhodes, and Todd Rhodes, grandchildren Teri Munro, Bryan Corredor, and Joshua Rhodes, nieces Elizabeth Stockwell and Diana Kerr, and nephew Terry Stockwell.

David is pre-deceased by his sister/best friend Fiona Stockwell. Private service and interment at the convenience of the family.

David was an industrial designer, artist, adventurer, world traveler, friend, loving husband and father/step-father.

He had a silly sense of humor and always had a positive attitude and outlook.

He served in the U.S. Navy and documented his adventures in words, drawings, and pictures, in great detail, as was his inclination - always the artist.

From 1957 through 1972 David was involved in marketing, design, importing overseas artisan handicrafts, training, and teaching in South Korea, Afghanistan (setting up the U.S. Pavilion at the International Trade Fair in Kabul), Ceylon, Thailand (establishing the first Department of Industrial Design at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok), South America, French Africa, Greece, Algeria, and Turkey (visiting lecturer in Industrial Design at the Middle East Technical University, Ankara).

He enjoyed spending time with the consummate French chef, Julia Child, who was married to his uncle, Paul Child.

Some of his passions were the family cats, Corvairs, geraniums, gardening, photography, oil painting, Jeopardy, Buffalo Bills football, and supporting the economy of Las Vegas.

He thoroughly enjoyed time spent with his friends in the community art associations, sold some of his work, and won a few awards locally.

David painted in the style of Gauguin – always colorful, always lively, just like his personality.

He is greatly missed by his family and friends.
