He was married on October 7, 1940 in Robertson County, Tennessee to Dorothy Naomi Allen (1920–2001), the daughter of Robert Briddy Allen (1899–1973) and Mamie Verdell (Wilson) Allen (1899–1982).
Living in Nashville, Fred was 77 years old and married when he died on June 26, 1991.
Survivors included his wife Dorothy, five daughters, eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sisters Mrs Viola Adams and Mrs Ualaree Reasoner.
Funeral Services were held on June 29th at Buena Vista Funeral Home, and burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville.
