Mrs. Manus was born March 18, 1923 in Cabarrus County to Jonas and Nancy Howell
Allman. She was a member of North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Manus, Sr, a sister Nancy Allman, and four brothers; Boyce Allman, Lane Allman, Buford Allman,and Jay Allman.
Mrs. Manus and her husband Don were charter members of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC. She held many positions there including singing in the adult choir, leading ladies groups, and teaching Sunday School. Mrs. Manus was one of the first female elders to be appointed at Covenant.
Mrs. Manus was a "social butterfly", never meeting a stranger, and was a very giving person. She was a life long blood donor for the Red Cross, a volunteer for Habitat for
Humanity building homes in the Charlotte area, and involved in many other community activities.
Mrs. Manus loved to travel with her husband Don, both across the United States, and to several countries abroad.
Mrs. Manus was a bookkeeper for over 50 years, working for Lucille Vogue and Hayward Inc. of Charlotte, NC, and lastly at Wilkes Family Pharmacy in Wilkesboro, NC where she resided.
She is survived by a son, Donald Lee Manus, Jr. of Taylorsville, five grandchildren; Meredith Gosnell and husband Travis of Laurens, SC, Elizabeth Manus of Okatie, SC, Madelyn Manus of North Wilkesboro, Jordan Gilbert and husband Justin of North Wilkesboro, Kendall Combs and husband Casey of Farmville, Virginia, and eight great grandchildren.
