Services for Rube Williamson, 86, of Carrollton, who died of heart failure Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Williams & Lord Funeral Home.

Mr. Williamson was a retired farmer and Carroll County bridge foreman. A native of Tallahatchie County, he resided in Carroll County for most of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the Philippines for four years. He received several medals including the Purple Heart. He was a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Louise Moorman Williamson of Carrollton; two sons, Nickey Williamson of Carrollton and Tony Williamson of Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Sheila W. Brower and her husband, Danny, of Carrollton; one brother, Tommie Bowers of Grenada; two sisters, Louise Elmore of West Point and Myrtle Lott of Vicksburg; two grandchildren, Brooks Brower of Jackson and Nicole Beck and her husband, John, of Carrollton; and one great-granddaughter, Allie Kathryn Beck of Carrollton.

The Rev. Jerry McNeer will officiate at the services.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton.

Pallbearers will be Stanley "Sugar" Mullins, Harold Denley, Steve Slocum, Ben Whiteside, Tommie Bowers and James Bowers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Beckwith, Lloyd "Honey" Ashmore, Ed Bullard and Dr. Millard Costilow.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 this evening at the funeral home.
