Mr. Haynes was born in Wilkes County, July 26, 1917, to George and Inez Brown Haynes. He was an active member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. He served as head deacon, clerk, treasurer, and taught Sunday school. He also drove the church bus. Mr. Haynes served in the US Army during World War II.
