Mr. Van Allen Haynes, age 84, of Liberty Grove/River Road, North Wilkesboro died Friday, May 14, 2010 at his home.
Funeral services will be held Monday 2:00 PM, May 17, 2010 at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Mace Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 at Reins-Sturdivant funeral Home.
Mr. Haynes was born December 10, 1925 in Wilkes County to George W. and Inez Brown Haynes. He retired from Peerless Hosiery and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Wyatt Haynes; a son, Larry Steven Haynes; a sister, Nova Lee Anthony and a brother, Connie Haynes.
He is survived by: two daughters, Joy Angela Haynes of the home; Deborah Haynes Meade and husband, Alvin of Granite Falls: two grandchildren, Krystal Baker, Jeff Transeau; two great-grandchildren, Joshua Baker and Laurel Baker.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to hospice of Wilkes, 1908 West Park Drive, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.
