Reva "Jane" Overton, 81, passed away peacefully at her home on Oct. 27, 2021 in Garden City, Kansas.

She was born March 25,1940 in Chicago, Illinois and was the youngest daughter of Lloyd and Edith (Cheetham) VanDermark

Jane grew up in Park Ridge, Illinois and graduated from Maine Township High School before leaving to further her education at Colorado State College in Greeley, Colorado. It was here, where she met and married her husband Eugene "Gene" Thomas Overton on September 10, 1960. They were married for 52 years before his passing.

After Gene completed college, the couple moved back to live on the family ranch in Syracuse, Kansas. Jane spent her days raising their three active children. When the kids were older, she returned to school to complete her degree in Education from St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City. After that, she was a substitute teacher for a number of years.

Jane enjoyed golfing, playing bridge and gardening. She remained active in the Southwest Kansas political scene and at one point ran for State Representative. In her later years, she continued to raise beautiful flowers in her backyard and loved reading books about world history and politics.

Survivors include her three children, Andrew and wife May Overton of Lakewood, California, Richard Thomas Overton of Garden City, Kansas and Ellen and husband Jeff Bourquin of Follet, Texas, 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Gene, her parents and her older sister Meredith.

No funeral service is planned per Jane's request.
