She was born on January 13, 1923, the daughter of William J. and Rose Larsen Mitchell. She grew up on a farm northwest of Bainville and graduated from Bainville High School in 1940. She worked from January 1942 to May 1943 in Washington D.C. during World War II.
Upon returning to Wolf Point, she worked in the clerk and recorder's office for many years. She married Edward R. Stennes on January 13, 1946. Edward died in July 1950. Marjie began work at Northeast Montana PCA in 1962, retiring July 31, 1986.
Marjie was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Beverly Mitchell.
