Mary R. McKnight, 91, of Plainfield, passed away October 12, 2021. She was born April 27, 1930 to the late Milton Russell and Marie (Cooney) Cross in Indianapolis, IN. She was a member of Plainfield Baptist Church. Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was the youngest and last surviving member of 7 siblings. Mary was a LPN nurse at Family Medical Center in Danville for 13 years. She worked in area hospitals for 5 years. She worked at Heartland Nursing Home in Avon for six years retiring in 1995. After retiring she volunteered at Hendricks County Hospital for many years. She would answer to many as Mamaw even those who cared for her!!! She was a great cook and baker, she would spoil us with all our favorites apple dumplings, cherry cobbler and chocolate chip cookies which someone would always check the cookie jar for!!! She also liked to play games her favorite was Rummikub and she loved to win!! She would be right there with us watching football she had her favorite players such as Peyton Manning, Pierre Garçon and she loved just saying his name!!! She also had a big heart for her animals cat "Patches, "and St. Bernard "Bernie". Mary is survived by her husband of 70 years, Howard M. McKnight. She is also survived by 4 sons, John W. (Karen) McKnight, Jeff A. (Kandi) McKnight, Mike (Mary) McKnight, and Ken (Susan) McKnight; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
