Son of John and Pauline (Fortenberry) Van Hoose. He graduated from South Plains College in Levelland, TX. He preached his first sermon at the age of 15. He married his childhood sweetheart, Betty Albritton, on May 30, 1958 in Bridgeport, TX. They worked as a team in the ministry; he played the guitar and she played the piano. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife of 61 years, Betty Van Hoose; sister, Frances Hensley; and brother, Alfred Van Hoose. He is survived by sons, Wayne Van Hoose and wife, Glenda of Anson, and John Van Hoose and wife, Brenda of Odessa; daughters, Edith Van Hoose of Brownwood, and Marilyn Holland and husband, John of Marble Falls; nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
