Charles Scott Atha, Jr. age 94, of Springfield passed away Sunday, October 3rd, 2021 at Gower Convalescent Center.
Charles was born November 23, 1926 in Agency, MO, to Charles and Grace Atha. He was a graduate of Agency High School. Charles served in the United States Army during World War II. He was united in marriage to Velda F. Skidmore on September 7, 1946 in Troy, Kansas. Charles worked as Coordinator of building and grounds for Missouri Western College from 1967- 1976. He finished his career as Supervisor of the Custodial and Maintenance Department at Southwest Missouri State University from 1977-1991. Charles was a member of Park Crest Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Velda Atha; his parents; and 3 infant children, Gloria June, Roxanne and Dennis.
Charles is survived by his son; Richard Atha and wife Sue, his three grandchildren; Kelley Porter and husband Ben, Kyle Atha and wife Shelley and Joey Gander and husband Jerry; six great-grandchildren; Gabriel Porter, Claire Porter, Trent, Atha, Troy Atha, Ronan Gander and Eamon Gander.
Burial Friday, October 8th, 2021, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri.
