Mrs. Matthews Dies In Michigan

Mrs. Cora Matthews, a resident of Sidney many years ago, died Wednesday of last week at the home of her son, John David Matthews in Dowagiac, Mich. Death came after a six months' illness following a stroke. She was 73 years old.
The remains arrived in Champaign Saturday noon and were brought to Mt. Hope cemetery, Sidney, where graveside rites were held, with Rev. J. C. Higgins, pastor of Holy Cross church of Champaign officiating.
Mrs. Matthews was the former Cora McElwee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Brewer McElwee and was born in St. Joseph township on April 18, 1870. Later the family moved to Sidney. She was married to Edward Clark, who died while they lived in Sidney. She moved to Champaign and was married to Hammond Matthews and they moved to Dowagiac, Mich., where Mr. Matthews died.
There survive two sons, Wayne Clark, a Red Cross staff worker in Texas and John David Matthews of Dowagiac; two sisters, Mrs. Edward Bonell of Sidney and Mrs. Mayme Booth of Buffalo, and one brother, John McElwee of Homer
