Shirley Ialene Jones, 80, of Independence, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, Saturday, September 25, 2021.

Shirley was born on April 28, 1941, in Independence, Missouri, the daughter of John and Lucille (Allison) Hedrick. Shirley attended Fort Osage High School and later in life she had two wonderful children whom she loved dearly.

As a vacation specialist, a career well suited for her, with her love of being at the lake, she was able to enjoy years of helping others plan special memories to be had, much like her own, for Shirley would take her family to the lake most every weekend in the summers making their own specials memories.

She also loved reading, a hobby she shared with her children from a young age. Shirley would often share reading with Carla and David, taking a book outside, each taking a part in reading pages together going on amazing adventures to far off places. Her current favorites being Stephen King and Janet Evanovich, she would still swap the Stephanie Plum series with Carla continuing the tradition of sharing in fantastic stories.
Shirley was a very quick witted and very much enjoyed country music, she even dabbled in playing the guitar and taught Carla and David as well.

She was an amazing woman with a wonderful zest for life and a tremendous heart. She loved her family fiercely and our loss here will be great, but the heavens above will shine. May we remember her spirit continuously, but especially as we look upon the waters and feel the wind on our face, when we hear the stings of a guitar being plucked and when we pick up the pages of an amazing story. Shirley is walking with the Lord but also walking with us daily.
Shirley is survived by her children, Carla (Mark) King and David (Terri) Williams; grandchildren, Brad (Angie) Baker, Matthew (Karina) Baker, Jennifer (Ben) Williams-Stacey, Amy Williams, Christopher (Nancy) King, Jeffrey (Risa) King, and Stephen (Karly) King; 11 great grandchildren; sister in law, Judy Hedrick; brother in law, John Ahring. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lucille Hedrick; siblings, Vincent Hedrick and Janice Ahring.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, between 2-4 pm, at Speaks Buckner
Chapel 300 Adams, Buckner, MO 64016, with a graveside Inurnment at Pine Crest Cemetery, Saturday, October 9th, 2021 at 2 pm.
