About 209 individuals and about 44 wagons were in the company when it began its journey on June 16, 1850 from the outfitting post at Kanesville (present day Council Bluffs) Iowa. This Church Wagon Train under the leadership of Wilford Woodruff arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on October 14, 1850.
