Dora Ellen (Meggs) McFarland, 86, of Haileyville, died Thursday, September 23, 2021 in McAlester.
A memorial luncheon for relatives and friends will be held at noon on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Living Word Church at A and Taylor. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans at Krebs.
Dora Ellen was born to James Washington and Mary Ann (Lott) Meggs on October 12, 1934 in Scipio.
Dora married Denver McFarland on August 11, 1956 in Muskogee, and he preceded her in death in November of 2005.
She worked as a nurse for Mitchell Manor and other area nursing homes. Dora retired from Franklin Electric.
She loved to sing and enjoyed sewing.
Dora was preceded in death by her parents: James and Mary Meggs; her husband: Denver McFarland; son: Tommy McFarland; brother: James L. Meggs; and sisters: Cindy Ogle, Lucy Nobles, Dorothy Stovall, and Doris James.
She is survived by her son: Larry McFarland of McAlester; sister: Catherine Wingo of McAlester; grandsons: Tommy Lee McFarland, Raymond McFarland and wife, Jenney; great-grandchildren: Ciara McFarland, Hazzie McFarland, Dawn McFarland, Preston McFarland, Eugene McFarland, all of Haileyville; special nephew: Larry Wingo of the Chambers Community; and numerous other nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
