Gary always enjoyed sports. He played basketball in high school and college and was on the golf team. He was an avid golfer, a past president of Hillview Country Club where he won the annual club tournament and was runner up in the Indianapolis City Amateur. He began playing pool at a later age and won the Indiana State Tournament, Senior Division, in 2007.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jayne Tegeler Admire; sons, Jason (Audra) and Michael (Kassandra) Admire; grandchildren, Max, Andi Elizabeth and AJ; brother-in law, Earl Nolting, a niece and six nephews. Gary was a family man and enjoyed coaching his sons' basketball teams and supporting their school activities and later endeavors. His happiest moments were with his family, friends, on the golf course, and through the years, their many rescued pets. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bernie Admire, sisters-in law Emma Admire and Judy Nolting.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with service following at G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, and burial at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 42040, Oklahoma City, OK 72123 or Cancer.org.
