SPARTA - Samuel James Abbott, age 77, is celebrating today with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He passed away in his home Tuesday, June 14, 2016, from a massive heart attack.
Sam was born January 30, 1939, to Archie and Nellie (Millard) Abbott. He grew up in the Cataract, Wisconsin area where he spent much of his childhood, along with his 11 siblings. Sam enjoyed the outdoors. He fished, trapped and hunted. Sam also enjoyed his garden.
Sam was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1962 and served for two years in the Military Police. Sam married Connie Broneman in 1965 and they had a son, James Carl Abbott. They later divorced. In 1973 Sam married Mary Yeske/Jones and together Sam and Mary raised Mary's son, ...
Sam was a City Postal Carrier for 35 years. He will be fondly remembered by many for his ability to remember every street address he delivered to over the years. After his retirement he enjoyed spending time with family and working part time at his church. Sam's first love was his Savior Jesus Christ whom he served unconditionally. The joy of his life was spending time with his three boys and five grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, at New Life Assembly of God Church, Sparta, with Rev. Randy Williamson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Cataract Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to call at New Life Assembly of God Church, Sparta, on Friday, from 5-7 p.m. and again at the church on Saturday, from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
