Earl Walter Ash was born June 12, 1921 in Ozark, Christian County, Missouri; one of six children born to John William Ash and Ada Lola (Cox) Ash. His father was a coal miner and his mother was a homemaker. Earl and his family moved to Catoosa, Oklahoma where Earl grew up. He was friends with Pauline Irene Simpkins growing up in Catoosa. These two childhood friends married on July 12, 1943 in Claremore, Rogers County Oklahoma. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage and were blessed with four children, six grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren. He served four years in the U.S. Army during World War II and as a result was a disabled Veteran. After being discharged from the military he worked for Douglas Aircraft Company retiring in 1985. Earl's wife, Pauline was an ordained Assemblies of God Minister and Earl and his family often played and sang as guests of Assemblies and other Pentecostal churches. Earl sang and played guitar, steel guitar and fiddle. He was a musician, golfer, bowler, motorcyclist and a great OU football fan. It Was For You was his favorite song. He traveled extensively across the United States and especially loved Las Vegas. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), honored supporter of the Wings of Eagles and the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. Earl was a real jokester. He was always "pulling someone's leg" or kidding them. His wife would slap him on the arm and say "Earl quit it!" He loved being part of the "Greatest Generation" He is proud to be a World War II Veteran. He always enjoyed keeping up with the news and reading the Bible daily.
Earl Walter Ash was inducted into the Centenarians of Oklahoma Hall of Fame. He had these words of advice. "Depend on the Lord". "Put all your trust and faith in him". Earl's centenarian file will be sent to the Oklahoma Historical Society to become a permanent part of Oklahoma History.
