Television Director. He was best known for being an Emmy Award-winning director of many popular television sitcoms throughout the years. He attended Beverly Hills High School and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) before joining the United States Army in the early 1950s. His first job in television was as an second assistant director on the "I Love Lucy" series. He went on to direct many popular television series of their times including: "Get Smart," "The Odd Couple," "The Bob Newhart Show," "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," "Soap," "WKRP in Cincinnati" and "The Cosby Show." He earned numerous Primetime Emmy Award nominations and won four Emmys for his work on both the "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and "The Cosby Show." He also directed the 1980 comedy film "Seems Like Old Times."
