VELMA LUELLA LACKEY
August 1, 1934 ~ September 22, 2021 (age 87)

Velma Luella Lackey, age 87, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, died, on September 22, 2021 at her home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

She was born on Wednesday, August 1, 1934 to Joseph Riley and Missouri Lee Shields Tidmore in Wright City, Oklahoma.

Velma was a Christian and a member of the Golden Church of Christ. She and her husband were married on August 25, 1949 in Ashdown, Arkansas and had 72 loving years together.

Velma enjoyed entering her quilts, cross stitching, and all her different crafts she did in the county fair. She received several Blue Ribbons over the years. Velma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be missed and loved by all who knew her.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jimmie Lackey; her brother, Cliff Tidmore and two sisters, Elise Hunt Miller and Lucille Brown.

Velma is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Ray Lackey of Broken Bow; her sons and daughters in law, Stephen and Vicky Lackey of Teague, Texas and Rick and Cathy Lackey of Golden,Oklahoma; one daughter and son in law, Linda and Henry Lester of Broken Bow, Oklahoma;

One sister, Lavon Dumont of Lukfata, Oklahoma; daughter in law, Pam Lawrence of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; forty six great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and are entrusted to Brumley Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

*I still have a quilt she made when I was about five years old. I just turned 65 in April. I think Grandma Tidmore helped. I am Joy's sister and I visited all my aunt's many times! Love from Mary Ellen in Texas!
