Linda Kay Mensching (nee Schopp), 77, of Loves Park, Illinois, went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 13, 2021 with the skies blue and the sun shining brightly. Linda was born in Chicago on August 15, 1944, starting a life that was in service to Christ and to others. She married the love of her life, Victor C. Mensching from Des Plaines, IL in 1964. She raised two sons, Mark and Brian, and adding Christopher, her nephew, to the family in 1977. Family to Linda was not just about blood but surrounding yourself with people that mattered to you. As a Physical Therapy Assistant, Linda was tasked to work on a patient that was pregnant and formed an instant bond, thus adding Joyce Holm and her family to her brood.

Linda was a talented and prolific artist, crafting beauty in paint, woodcarving, jewelry making, ceramic dolls, and many other media. She was known to bedazzle just about anything to have objects that sparkled just as she did. Linda was overjoyed when the grandchildren started joining her clan, Max and Jake, sons of Mark and Regina, and Joshua, son of Brian and Julie, along with Joyce's kids, Becky and Denny. Linda spent her life giving of herself doing God's work. She was involved with many organizations such as Tres Dias, Credo, Rockford Rescue Mission among others.

Linda is survived by her sons, Mark (Regina), Brian (Julie) and Christopher; her sister, Sandy (Guy) Ambrose from Hawaii; her "adopted" daughter, Joyce (Dennis) Holm; grandchildren, Max, Jake, Joshua, Becky, Dennis Jr.; great-grandkids, Lionel and Bella; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her one true love, her husband Victor; and dear brother, Robert Schopp.

Funeral service will be at 12:00 noon with a visitation from 10:00am until the service on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 in City First Church, 5950 Spring Creek Road, Rockford, IL 61114. Burial at 2:30pm in Genoa Cemetery, Genoa, IL. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Linda's name to the Rockford Rescue Mission Women's program, as it was her true passion to help the people there. Please also wear a yellow rose in her honor or give one to someone you love as this was her favorite flower.
