He was born June 28, 1933 in Mount Clemens, Michigan to the late Paul and Mabel Pierce.
On September 2, 1972 in Mount Clemens, he was united in marriage to the former Gloria A. Bruyer. Together they celebrated their 42nd Wedding Anniversary. Gloria preceded her husband in death May 29, 2015.
Russell proudly served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge and return to civilian life, he was employed as a mechanic for Chrysler Corporation for over 21 years retiring in 1992.
He was an active member of the VFW Post 6691 in Fraser and the American Legion in Marysville. Among his hobbies and interests, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and driving his 2007 Corvette. Russell was a member of St. John the Apostle Anglican Church in Clinton Township.
He is survived by his brother David (Cindy) Pierce, nieces, nephews, brother in law Frank Davis and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gloria, brothers Floyd and Raymond, sister Elaine (husband Al) Burgess, sister in law Nancy Davis and brother in law Frank (wife Jackie) Bruyer.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 in the Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, 140 South Main, Mount Clemens, Michigan from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm the time of services including Military Honors.
Private burial will take place at Clinton Grove Cemetery, Clinton Township, Michigan.
