Charles W. Butterfield

January 22, 1935 - November 27, 2007

SALEM - Rev. Charles Butterfield went to be with the Lord on November 27, 2007. He was born in Everett, Washington on January 22, 1935, to Charles and Edith Butterfield.
After graduating from high school, Charles attended Northwest Bible College, where he met Linda Selland. They were married on August 31, 1957. Charles was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. He was an Associate Pastor for one year in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and then pastored in Madras, Oregon for five years. In 1965, Charles, Linda, and their family went to South Korea as missionaries. They served as missionaries until 2001, when they retired for health reasons. Charles was involved in church planting, university ministries, taught in the Bible College, and for many years, ministered to the U.S. service personnel stationed in Korea and Okinawa.
Charles will be remembered for his love of his family, his great sense of humor, and his love of the Korean people. He enjoyed spending time with his family and meeting his retired friends at the mall for coffee.
His is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda of Salem; his four daughters, Anne (Steve) Young of Pittsboro, North Carolina, Susan (Raymond) Berg of Centralia, Washington, Liz Butterfield of Salem, and Lori (Craig) Glass of Apex, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Danielle (Robert) Povelones, Matthew Young, Chelsea Young, Lindsey Berg, Phillip Berg, Aaron Berg, Samantha Glass, and Colby Glass; three brothers; four sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday December 1 at Peoples Church, 4500 Lancaster Dr. NE, Salem. Interment will be private at Belcrest Memorial Park, Salem. Contributions may be made to Missionary Renewal Asia Pacific, 733 - 7th Ave., Ste. 200, Kirkland WA 98012.
