Funeral services for Wilbur Winterton, 98, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, were
held on Friday, Feb. 27, 2004 at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home,
St. Ansgar with Rev. Byron Northwick officiating. Burial was in the
Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar.

Wilbur died on Monday, Feb. 23, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Center,
St. Ansgar.

Wilbur was born on May 22, 1905 in Thor, Iowa, the son of George and
Eda (Flemmig) Winterton. He grew up in, and attended school in the
Thor and Forest City areas. He farmed in the Grafton and St. Ansgar
area. He was also involved in trucking and agri products. He served
the United States in the Army at Camp Carson, Colorado, from 1942
to 1943. He retired in 1970 moving to St. Ansgar, where he resided
until entering the nursing home for the last two months. He was a
member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar.

Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mayme Lovik
and Ester Watton; three brothers, Alvie, Earl and Merle.

Wilbur is survived by three sisters; Vernice Wetzel of St. Ansgar,
Laura Mostek of Mitchell, Iowa, and Marcella Ohnemus of Fall Creek,
Wisconsin; also many nieces and nephews.
