Donald Goodwin was born in Countyline, Oklahoma; along with his twin Ronald, on August 12, 1937, to Charles Guy and Eunice (Cathey) Goodwin. On March 17, 1956, Donald married Barbara Fox of Ada, OK, and together they brought up five children. The Goodwin family came to Colorado Springs in 1970 and have been residents ever since.
Donald provided for his family through several occupations including working in the oil field, repairing appliances, and hospitality industry owner. He provided wisdom earned from a lifetime of experiences to his children and grandchildren as they pursued their goals and navigated life's challenges. He instilled principles and morals that became a strong foundation for his family's values. In his retirement years, always a businessman at heart, he assisted his daughter as a bookkeeper for Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Preschool. Upon several occasions, Donald shared that both he and his twin brother Ronald came to know the Lord through his beloved wife's testimony and life. They are all enjoying their reunion in heaven now.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Goodwin. He is survived by his; five children, Don (Marilyn) Goodwin, Jeff (Valinda) Goodwin, Tim (Linda) Goodwin, Kathy (Robert) Martin, and Susie (Cliff) Butler; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and brother Tommy Goodwin.
A memorial celebration of Donald Goodwin's life will be on Friday, June 25, 2021, at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 3010 W. Bijou St., 80904. Officiating for Don's service will be Vern Thompson, Cowboys for Jesus, and Ken Musselwhite of Northside Baptist Church in Colorado Springs.
A private family service to lay Don to rest will take place on October 1, 2021, at Fairview Cemetary.
