. Irene Gooch Shelton, 67, of Dreyfus, passed away early Sunday morning, September 12, 2021 at her home.
Irene was born in Madison County on August 2, 1954. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Barbara Jean Rose Gooch. Irene was a homemaker and a member of the Bearwallow Holiness Church. Previously, she had worked at the Blue Grass Army Depot and also with the ROTC Program at Eastern Kentucky University.
Survivors include her husband of over 50 years, Wesley Howard Shelton Jr.; one daughter: Susan Garrett; one son: Kevin Shelton (Cassandra); two granddaughters: Chelsea Garrett and Krista Garrett (Brian Carpenter); one great-grandson: Keelin Barrett; three sisters: Vickie Lester (David), Joan Shelton (Mike) and Kathleen Roberts; one brother: Lester Gooch (Pam) as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. in addition to her parents: She was preceded in death by a sister: Deborah Goodin and a brother: Elbert Gooch.
The family has chosen to have a Private Service. Burial will be in the Gooch Family Cemetery at Dreyfus, Kentucky.
Serving as pallbearers are: Warren Gooch, Eric Gooch, Ricky Fowler Jr., Travis Fowler, Michael Raymond Brock and Jackie Sparks.
