Mrs. Matilda Jones, wife of Claiborn Jones, died at 6:30 o'clock Tuesday morning, March 15, of paralysis, at her home, three miles east of Mt. Zion. Mrs. Jones was the mother of eleven children, five of whom are living. They are Mrs. Clara Wilson, of Decatur, Annie, wife of Circuit Clerk D.L. Foster of Decatur, George Jones of Mt. Zion, and Jasper Jones, now in Australia.
Mrs. Jones was one of the oldest residents of Macon county, having lived in the county for seventy years. She was 77 years of age and was known to all the older residents of the county. She was held in highest esteem by a host of friends. She was married to Claiborn Jones sixty years ago last June.
The funeral will be held at the church in Long Creek this afternoon. The services will be conducted by Rev. Z.T. Hatfield.
