Marvin Richard Grimmett, Sr., age 90, of Pine Bluff, went to be with the Lord Friday, September 3, 2021.

Born January 25, 1931 at McNeil, AR, he was the son of the late Marvin Henry Grimmett and Frances Evelyn Kelley Grimmett.

He graduated from Watson Chapel High School in 1949 and served in the Arkansas National Guard for 11 years as a mess sergeant and master cook.

Mr. Grimmett worked for the Cotton Belt, Southern Pacific, and Union Pacific Railroads in various capacities for over 30 years. In Dallas, he worked as a welder; in Shreveport, he was an assistant trainmaster; and in Pine Bluff was a supervisor at the time of his retirement.

He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and was actively involved in mission work. Since 1971, he made over 500 mission trips to the Navajo Indians in New Mexico; to Cuernava, Mexico; and Tlapa, Mexico taking clothing and needed items to Bethesda Children's Home.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Sarah Ann Johnson; his son-in-law, James L. McEntire; and a grandson, Cameron McEntire.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Marilyn Muckleroy Grimmett, who he married on July 27, 1951; his children, Lynn Grimmett McEntire of Pine Bluff, Richard Grimmett, Jr. (Mica) of Haskell, AR, Randy Grimmett (Theresa) of Tyler, TX, Rusty Grimmett (Wanda) of Pine Bluff, and Tracy Grimmett (Cheryl) of Gilmer, TX; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 7, 2021, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel.

The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Shawn Cuthbertson and Chaplain Stoney Shaw officiating.

Burial will follow in Cedar Branch Cemetery in Grant County.

The family requires that masks be worn and social distancing be strictly observed.
