Harve Hogan Dead After Short Illness

Harve Hogan, 87, of Rt. 1 Andrews, died Saturday evening in an Andrews hospital after a short illness.

A native of Clay County, and the son of the late John and Mary Alice Stamey Hogan, he had moved to Andrews in 1918. He was a retired N. C. State Highway employee, and a deacon of Valleytown Baptist Church.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Effie Thomas Hogan; a daughter Mrs. Floyd Willard of Greensboro; three sons, Clarence Hogan of Andrews, Arval Hogan of Charlotte and the Rev. Garland D. Hogan of Athens, Tenn.; a brother, John E. Hogan of Andrews; a sister, Mrs. Neil Lunsford of Andrews; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Services were held at 2 p. m. Monday in Valleytown Baptist Church. The Rev. France Postell, Homer Wilson and Weldon West officiated. Burial was in Valleytown Cemetery. Grandsons were pallbearers.

The body remained in Ivie Funeral Home until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to services.
