He was a native of Graham County, but had lived in Cherokee County most of his life. He was the son of the late Harve and Etta Sherrill Hogan and the husband of the late Cora Kilpatrick Hogan, who died Feb. 23, 1992. He was a retired courier with Wachovia Bank. He was a member of the Andrews Masonic Lodge #529, had served on the Cherokee County School Board and Social Service Board, had been a Justice of the Peace, and was a member of Valleytown Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Steve Hogan of Winston Salem and Donald Hogan of Andrews; one sister, Maebelle Willard of Greensboro; two brothers, Arvil Hogan of Charlotte and the Rev. G.D. Hogan of Athens, TN: and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, in Valleytown Cemetery with masonic graveside rites conducted by Andrews Masonic Lodge #529. Pallbearers will be Perry and Jimmy Hogan, Junior Luther, David Phillips, Wally Willard, and Royce Talley.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, where the body will be until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to services.
Memorials may be made to Valleytown Baptist Church Building Fund, in care of Ella Mae Mathis, 240 Robinson Road, Andrews, NC. 28901.
