John W. Brassfield, 67, Sunday committed suicide by shooting himself with a .22 rifle at his home in Springville.
His action was attributed by Coroner Roy Brooks to despondency over ill health.
Brassfield is survived by three daughters, Mrs. E. M. Rondon and Mrs. John Buchanan, Strathmore, and Mrs. M. Coviello, Parlier; four brothers, Jess Brassfield, Redlands, and James Brassfield, Frank Brassfield and Tom Brassfield, Davis, Okla., and nine grandchildren.
His body was taken to the Myers Funeral home, Porterville. Services are pending.
