The daughter of Davis Sevier Criswell and Morning (Estabrook) Criswell, Harriet came with her parents from AR to TX in 1854. She married Ira Clement Prewitt in 1856, and they settled in Palo Pinto County, TX, where they raised six children. After her husband's death she resettled in 1890, in old Greer County with her unmarried children. They each homesteaded a quarter-section of land in the old Antioch Community. About middle age Harriet lost her eyesight, but her spiritual vision never grew dim.
