Ray Crumpler, age 79, entered Heaven on April 26, 2021.

He was born on November 12, 1941 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was raised by parents, Adrian & Evelyn Crumpler in Abilene, TX.

Ray graduated from Abilene High School and continued his education at McMurry University where he played football under a 4 year scholarship. Perhaps the most notable event during his football career at McMurray was the plane crash with his teammates after playing Northeast State Louisiana. Afterwards, head coach Grant Teaff had cards made – listing all who were aboard the plane that night – and inscribed with Romans 8:31, "What shall we then say of these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" They also adopted the acronym B.I.B.L.E. for their "club": the Brotherhood of Indian (as McMurry teams were nicknamed at the time) Belly-Landing Experts.

Ray worked in the finance and banking industry and lived in Arizona, Ohio, and several areas of Texas. Ray met Kay Marie Copeland, the love of his life, in Phoenix, Arizona and they married on June 28, 1969.

Ray was a long time resident of Plano, Texas where he was an active member of Prestonwood Baptist Church. He served numerous hours as a greeter and usher. Ray loved music, especially playing the guitar. He created and recorded an album of original music.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Adrian & Evelyn Crumpler, his brother, John Adrian "Jack" Crumpler and his beloved wife, Kay Marie Copeland. Survivors include: sister-in-law, Jeane Crumpler, nieces: Julie Little, Jill van der Werff, Jan Nell and five great nieces and nephews.

Ray's family would like to thank Ray's Prestonwood Baptist Church friends for their love and support.

Graveside service and burial was at Abilene Municipal Cemetery in Abilene, Texas.
