Dee D. Denver, 78, well-known local radio broadcaster for many years, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon at a local hospital. He had resided at 3002 Angelique street.
Joining KFEQ radio station in 1932, Mr. Denver had worked there until 1969 when he retired. He had several programs over the years, two of which were the 'Old Store Keeper' and the 'Early Morning Farm Hour'.
Born in Milford, Kansas, he moved to Del Rio, Texas before moving to St. Joseph in 1932. He was a member of the Brookdale United Presbyterian Church. He served in France during WW I with the U.S. Army Medical Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth W. Denver of the home; two sons, James W. Denver and Philip G. Denver of St. Joseph; a sister, Mrs. Richard Smith, Junction City, Kansas; three brothers, Richard E. Denver of Fairbanks, Alaska, Gerald A Denver, Newhall, California; and Kenneth Denver, Wichita, Kansas; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1:30 Friday afternoon at the Meierhoffer-Fleeman chapel. Dr. J. Wilbur Curry will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
