Glenwood was born in Elkville, Illinois, on September 27, 1931, the son of Joseph and Stella Craig Degenhardt. He married Allene Knop on October 3, 1953, in Steeleville, Illinois. She preceded him in death on February 14, 2011. He was a retired Operator from Captain Mines. Glenwood was a Veteran of the US Air Force, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville, American Legion Post #1145, Percy, UMWA Local #1392, and a former Boy Scout Leader Troop #348.
Glenwood is survived by his children, Ann (Richard) Sanders of Percy and Glen (Christa) Degenhardt of Percy; Honorary Daughter, Amy (Chris) Bauer of St. Peters, MO; Special Friend, Jean Schroeder of Steeleville; grandchildren, Ashley (Aviz) Alali, Nicole (Chris) Cooke, Sydney (Philip) Potkowski; honorary grandchildren, Caleb, Mason, Nate and Camden; and 8 great grandchildren, Gage, Brooklyn, Halle, Olivia, Hannes, Quinn, Bodie and Wyatt.
Glenwood was also preceded in death by his Parents; one sister, Esther Deppe; and one grandson, Degen Sanders.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville, with Rev. Mark Harriss officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, on Wednesday from 9 am until 11 am. Memorials may be given to St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
